Critical fire danger across the KVOE listening area has led the National Weather Service to issue an areawide red flag warning beginning at noon Sunday.
The warning affects all area counties from noon to 8 pm and will mean outdoor burning is prohibited across the area Sunday. The warning comes with highs forecasted near 80 degrees, low humidity levels between 15 and 24 percent and high wind gusts between 20 to 25 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph possible at times.
Due to the critical conditions, any fires that develop could potentially spread rapidly and be more difficult to control. Residents should check on previous burns to make sure they do not rekindle and need to be sure they properly dispose of smoking materials.
