One individual was hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident in eastern Emporia Sunday evening.
Emporia Police and EMS were called to the intersection of Homewood and East 10th Ave. just before 7 pm for a reported injury accident. According to Officer Anthony Brown, the collision occurred after a northbound Jeep traveling on Homewood failed to yield at an uncontrolled intersection to a westbound Ford Focus traveling on East 10th.
The Jeep then collided with the Focus and entered a nearby yard. The Focus suffered severe damage to its front end and minor damage to the passenger side.
The Jeep suffered damage to the passenger side door and the steering became disabled. The driver of the Focus, an unidentified female in her mid 20’s, was taken to Newman with complaints of arm pain.
The driver of the Jeep refused medical treatment and was cited for failure to yield and for not having a driver’s license.
