One person suffered potentially serious injuries after an apparent disturbance in downtown Emporia on Saturday night.
Emporia Police Sgt. Dominick Vortherms says officers were called to the 400 block of Commercial around 8:30 pm, with Emporia Fire and EMS called out shortly afterward. Emporia Fire confirms taking one man to Newman Regional Health with “emergent” injuries.
The injured person’s name has not been released. Emporia Police have not offered additional details about the incident as they investigate, and they have not confirmed whether the investigation expanded north to the 600 block of Commercial although there was an increased law enforcement presence in that block shortly after 9 pm.
