For the first time in three years, First United Methodist Church’s halls were alive with melodic selections from multiple choirs Monday night in support of Emporia’s Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat held its traditional “Take Care of this House” concert, formerly known as “A Lord-Built House.” The concert included performances by the Emporia High Chorale and the A Cappella Choir, Chamber Choir and Emporia Chorale through Emporia State University, a benediction from Reverend Karla Sheffield and a personal testimonial from Althea Bedolla, a recipient of a Habitat home in Emporia.
The concert was free to attend, however, there was a suggested donation of $10 with all proceeds going to benefit the work of Habitat in the Emporia community. Proceeds from the evening will be announced at a later time.
Monday’s concert comes as Habitat is in the process of putting its most recent build at 502 State Street on the real estate market in an effort to generate more funding for future builds. Residents interested in purchasing the house can call Habitat Director Eric Kirby at 620-794-4483, email ekirby@emporiaareahabitat.org or message Habitat for Humanity through its Facebook page.
