The Care Arc Board of Directors received a full risk analysis during its monthly meeting Tuesday.
Care Arc Risk Manager Neil Dean presented the annual risk management report which details every identifiable risk across all areas of the organization.
Dean explains the report is a yearly requirement in order for the health center to qualify for free Federal Tort Claims Act medical malpractice coverage.
Dean says FTCA coverage provides the health center with significant financial savings every year.
The Federal Tort Claims Act was enacted in 1946 to provide patients with legal means to seek compensation in the event an individual suffers injury, death or loss of property directly caused by the negligent or wrongful act of a government employee.
In other business, Tuesday, Board Secretary and Treasurer Ron Hanson presented the monthly financial report which showed the health center had a net gain of $39,000 for the month of February. Total revenues for the month were $763,000 and days cash on hand dipped slightly to 179 days — roughly six months — due in part to the health center making a recent loan payment of $100,000.
Board members also received the monthly clinical and CQI reports, approved credentialing matters, a tobacco use, excercise and healthy eating policies and reviewed the annual uniform data report.
Prior to the monthly meeting, the board conducted its annual meeting where the board unanimously approved Daphne Mertens to continue serving as president, Rick Torres as vice-president and Hanson as secretary and treasurer. The board also voted to approve the ratification of business and affairs from 2021 and necessary documents.
The Care Arc Board of Directors will reconvene for its monthly meeting at noon Apr. 26 via Zoom.
