There is still just a little more than two months remaining in the current school year for USD 253 Emporia, however, administrators are already asking parents of kindergarten-aged children to begin looking ahead to next year.
Kindergarten pre-registration begins for the district in mid-April and Village Elementary School Principal John Martin, a recent guest of the Emporia Showcase, says pre-registration is not only beneficial for students, but for administrators as well.
Parents will be able to pre-register their students by accessing a Google form that will be made available beginning Apr. 12. The formal enrollment process will begin Jul. 18 districtwide and according to USD 253 Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren, the process will not deviate from years past.
The district is asking residents who can enroll their students online to do so as it helps to streamline the enrollment process. Additionally, PowerSchool parent portal users will have early access the Friday before the official enrollment period begins.
