For the second time in four years, the Emporia Arts Council welcomed back renowned Japanese music group Drum Tao Wednesday night.
Drum Tao is a world-renowned Japan-based music group that combines traditional Japanese taiko drumming with acrobatics and dance to present a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience. Drum Tao first came to prominence in 2004 following a series of sold-out shows at the 2004 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Since that time, the group’s resume has included performances in more than 25 different countries, a performance at the 2010 Winter Olympics and an appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2017. This was the second time Drum Tao has come to Emporia as part of the EAC Performing Arts Series after a performance at the Granada in April 2018.
Wednesday’s performance was Drum Tao’s latest stop on a countrywide tour of the United States which continues in Las Vegas on Mar. 25.
The next show in the Performing Arts Series will be Stunt Dog Experience on Apr. 8 at 7 pm inside Albert Taylor Hall.
