The Kansas City Royals avoided arbitration with six of their eight arbitration-eligible players and agreed to 2022 salaries with all 26 of their pre-arbitration players on Tuesday.
The Royals agreed to a $3 million contract with shortstop Adalberto Mondesi, a $1.3 million deal with first baseman Ryan O’Hearn and a $4.8 million deal with RHP Brad Keller.
The Royals also avoided arbitration with Scott Barlow, Amir Garrett, and Cam Gallager.
The Royals still have two arbitration-eligible players left to sign: outfielder Andrew Benintendi and second baseman Nicky Lopez.
Teams can continue to negotiate deals until the arbitration hearing.
The Royals Tuesday outscored the Oakland A’s 5-3. Bobby Witt Jr hit his first spring training home run, a 2 run home run in the 6th.
The Royals play the Rockies Wednesday afternoon. Zack Greinke will make his spring debut.
