After notable rain totals Monday, the KVOE listening area had more of the same Tuesday.
The KVOE studios got 0.42 inches of rain Tuesday, putting the station’s total this week at 1.42 inches. Other totals:
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 1.52 inches total
*3 miles east of Emporia Municipal Airport: 2.13 inches total, including 0.69 inches Tuesday
*10th and Weaver: 1.8 inches total, including 0.50 inches Tuesday
*Allen: 1.6 inches total, including 0.30 inches Tuesday
Several area locations were above 1.5 inches of rain as of 9 am Tuesday, including northwest Emporia, Eureka, Gridley and Thrall. LeRoy was at nearly 2.1 inches of rain as of mid-morning. Updates are currently pending.
Wet driving conditions led to a pair of crashes on the Kansas Turnpike, one of which was at the Emporia tollgate exit shortly before 7:15 pm and another happened three miles northeast of the Matfield Green service exit shortly before 7 pm. Four people were checked at the scene but none were taken by ambulance to hospitals.
Rain chances are slight Wednesday. There are chances for some light snowfall Wednesday morning and again before sunrise Thursday.
