Emporia State University will have its annual Women’s History Month reception and awards ceremony Friday.
Several awards will be handed out:
*Dr. Jasmine Linabary, an assistant professor in the Communication and Theatre department, will receive the Ruth Schillinger Award for her “extraordinary contribution” to the women of Emporia State over a sustained period of time.
*Bing Xu, Emporia State’s volleyball coach the past 16 years, receives the Mary Headrick Award for a long-term commitment to promoting the development of women on and off campus.
*Emily Carlson, a master’s degree student in library science, receives the Susan B Anthony Scholarship for significant contributions to the growth and education of women on campus.
The celebration is from 2-3 pm Friday at the Memorial Union Greek Room. The ESU Ethnic and Gender Studies program is sponsoring the reception and the public is encouraged to attend.
