The Blue and Red All-Stars were both winners in the 2022 Flint Hills Optimist All-Star Classic Saturday night.
The Blue All-Stars, coached by Michelle Stueve-Corpening, defeated the Red All-Stars 80-66 in the girl’s game. Gracie Gilpin of Emporia High School received the Bryan Douglas Most Valuable Player award as she led all scorers with 32 points.
Stueve-Corpening says getting the win feels great, but more than anything she just wanted her girls to enjoy the moment.
In the boy’s game, the Red All-Stars came out on top of the Blue team 94-82. Drew Stutseman of Madison was named the boy’s MVP leading his team with 20-points.
Red All-Star Coach Dylan Farr, a former All-Star himself, says he was proud to be a part of the event once again.
Daelyn Winters of Burlingame and Kellen Marshall of Council Grove were crowned the All-Star Game three-point shooting champions.
