SOS’ largest annual fundraiser made a heroic return Friday night.
The sold-out Hope-A-Palooza event was held inside of the Bowyer Community Building for the first time in two years following back-to-back cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Director Connie Cahoone says the absence of the combination fundraiser and celebration left an emotional void within the organization.
The theme for the evening was “heroes” with all attendees being encouraged to don their capes and masks and embrace their inner superhero. The theme was fitting as in addition to drinks, dinner, live music and a live auction, the evening also featured a time of recognition for the recently completed Heroes for Hope campaign.
The campaign saw 20 individuals and teams raise funds for the organization over the past month. Cahoone was so proud to announce the campaign’s grand total Friday night.
The campaign’s top individual fundraiser was Lisa Hayes who brought in just over $6,300. Vicky Lyon was recognized for having the most donors with a grand total of 71.
Between Heroes for Hope and Friday night’s activities, the initial total is over $96,000.
