(ku) The Kansas Jayhawks advanced to the Elite 8 as they held on for a 66-61 win over Providence Friday night.
Kansas Coach Bill Self was happy to get the win.
The Jayhawks held off a 2nd half rally by Providence after leading by as many as 13 points in the 2nd half. Kansas Outscored Providence 19-13 in the final 5 minutes of play to seal the win.
Super-senior guard Remy Martin led the way with a season-high and game-high 23 points, to go with seven rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes.
Redshirt sophomore Jalen Wilson collected his sixth double-double of the season and second-straight with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Jayhawks will play Miami Sunday in the Elite 8 for a trip to the final 4.
Miami outscored Iowa State 70-56.
Sunday’s game will tip-off at 1:20 in Chicago. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
St. Peters became the first 15 seed to reach the Elite 8 after defeating Purdue 67-64.
They will play North Carolina in the Elite 8 Sunday.
North Carolina defeated UCLA 73-66.
