The National Teacher’s Hall of Fame has begun unveiling the 2022 Hall of Fame class.
Thursday, Sergio de Alba of RM Miano Elementary School in Los Banos, CA, learned he was the first of five inductees into the 30th hall of fame class. De Alba is a sixth-grade STEM teacher and has been a member of the RM Miano faculty since 2001 following four years as a substitute teacher for the Turlock Unified School District.
De Alba has received over 190 awards for his performance in the classroom over his 21-year-career including being named the National History Teacher of the Year in 2020 by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. De Alba will be joined by four other distinguished educators who will be informed of their impending induction through surprise announcements over the next two weeks.
2022 Hall of Fame induction activities will take place in June and will also see the 2020 Hall of Fame class recognized after activities had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The induction of the 2020 and 2022 classes will bring the total number of inductees to 150.
