Newman Regional Health is beginning to move back towards pre-pandemic patient trends, while also preparing for some exciting additions.
During Wednesday’s monthly board meeting, Newman CEO Bob Wright said lower COVID traffic over the last month has allowed the hospital to see an increase in surgeries and regular medical cases. The February financial report showed a net income of $269,000.
Wright also announced the hospital had received two new pieces of equipment. A new bone densitometer will be used in the W.S and E.C. Jones Breast Care Center. And the hospital also received its new robotic-assisted surgery equipment.
Wright says the equipment will be used in general surgery, as well as in urology and OBGYN.
Wright also expects a new general surgeon — Dr. Rebecca Douglas — to join the hospital staff soon, and should be scheduling surgeries by late-spring or early summer.
