Light snowfall between the overnight to early morning hours Thursday has had little impact on driving conditions locally.
Emporia EMS was toned out briefly for a reported injury accident Thursday morning at mile marker 127, two miles north of the Emporia toll booth. According to Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley, the accident involved a vehicle towing a camper.
Conley tells KVOE News the vehicle left the roadway, however, it is unclear if weather conditions were the direct cause. Conley says the vehicle was on all four tires when crews arrived on scene while the camper had suffered damage leading crews to believe it may have flipped in the accident.
Two occupants, names and hometowns not listed, were treated at the scene but refused medical transport.
What little snowfall fell in the overnight hours did not linger on city or county roads which are completely clear. Major area highways are reporting seasonal and wet conditions including the Kansas Turnpike from Emporia southwest to Wichita.
US Highway 50 from Saffordville to Elmdale is also experiencing seasonal driving conditions while Kansas Highway 99, Interstate 35 and Highway 50 from Emporia to Lebo are all clear.
Barricades are still in place on a quartet of roadways following significant rainfall Tuesday.
