Milling and overlay work through the Kansas Department of Transportation is set to begin in Lyon County Monday.
The approximately 22-mile project will take place on US Highway 56 and stretch from the Morris County line to the Osage County line with a portion of Kansas 78 Highway from US 56 to Miller included. Traffic will be down to one lane in the work zone with a pilot car and flaggers helping to direct traffic.
KDOT says delays up to 15 minutes should be expected in the area Mondays through Fridays and occasionally on Saturdays if needed throughout the duration of the project. KDOT estimates work could be completed by late May, weather permitting.
The $3.25 million project was awarded to Shilling Construction Co. of Manhattan.
