The Emporia City Commission could potentially select its newest member Wednesday.
According to a news release from Emporia City Clerk Kerry Sull nine individuals have applied to serve the remainder of commissioner Rob Gilligan’s term. Applicants include:

*Denise Gilligan
*Erren Harter
*Jeremy Hinkle
*Travis Hitt
*Joshua Jensen
*Dennis Kear
*Marc Magathan
*Jay Vehige
Commissioners will consider the applicants, and possibly approve its newest member during its upcoming action meeting Wednesday afternoon. Gilligan is vacating his seat to serve as the new President and CEO of the Cape Girardeau, MO, Chamber of Commerce beginning Apr. 11.
A farewell celebration for Gilligan will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm Wednesday inside the White Auditorium Little Theatre.
