Flint Hills Mall’s newest tenant now has an official opening date.
Dunham’s Sports will open its doors to the public on Jul. 8 according to a news release from the mall Tuesday. It was announced in March that the national sports accessories chain was coming to the former JC Penny location.
Dunham’s began operations in 1937 in Michigan and now has more than 230 stores in 23 states across the US. Other Kansas locations include in Salina, Liberal and Hutchinson.
Dunham’s will carry equipment for hunting, fishing, traditional and disc golf, kayaking, canoeing and other outdoor activities than Hibbett Sports, a longtime tenant of the mall. Emporia’s JC Penney closed its doors in October 2020 after around 35 years in Emporia after years of financial losses and the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
