Kansas Gas Service is recognizing National Dig Safe month with an introduction of their new “Dig Heroes” program.
‘Dig Heroes’ consists of Kansas residents who take a pledge to help promote safe digging in Kansas areas. The Kansas Gas Service wants to encourage residents to take the pledge to practice safe digging no matter how big or small the project may be while also promoting National Dig Safe month this April.
Residents are always encouraged to call 811 or visit Kansas811.com before digging on their properties to locate and flag any underground utility lines. Not calling ahead increases the chance of striking any lines that may cause outages or “inconveniences to neighborhoods.”
Residents are told to call two days in advance of beginning any digging projects, regardless of the size.
