For the 4th time in school history, the Kansas Jayhawks have won the NCAA Division I mens Basketball Tournament Championship. It is also their 6th National Championship overall.
The Jayhawks rallied from 16 down to defeat North Carolina 72-69.
Kansas Coach Bill Self called it the 2022 miracle.
Kansas held an early 7 point lead. North Carolina would rally to lead at halftime 40-25.
The 2nd half belonged to KU they outscored the Tarheels 47-29.
The Jayhawks cut the deficit to 8 by the first media timeout in the 2nd half. By the 10 minute mark, Kansas led by 6. North Carolina grabbed the lead with 1:41 to play 69-68. David McCormack would score the next 4 points to help seal the win.
David McCormack finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Jalen Wilson also scored 15 points. Remy Martin added 14 points, 11 of those came in the 2nd half. Ochai Agbaji, the Most Outstanding player finished with 12 points.
Christian Braun also scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Coach Bill Self said it turned out better than he thought it would.
The Jayhawks finish the season with a 34-6 record.
