The 2022 primary election is still a little less than four months away, however, Lyon County Clerk Tammy Vopat is advising local voters not to wait to long to make sure they are registered.
The registration deadline is coming on July 12th, and while that seems like a long way off, Vopat says it comes up quickly. Vopat says registering is a very simple process.
To register, voters can go online to KSvotes.org or visit the Lyon County Clerk’s office inside the Lyon County Courthouse during regular business hours.
There are several positions of note on this year’s primary and general ballots including the offices of Governor and Lt. Governor at the state level and Lyon County Commissioner district 1 and township clerk at the local level. A constitutional amendment regarding abortion rights within the state will also be one of the special questions on this year’s ballot.
The primary election will be held Aug. 2 with the general election scheduled for Nov. 8.
