Two classes of Kansas Master Teachers were being honored on the Emporia State University campus, Wednesday.
Several recognition activities were held, Wednesday, as part of Kansas Master Day to to honor the 2020 and 2020 Kansas Master Teacher recipients — with no activities taking place in 2020 and the program suspended in 2021, due to COVID-19. Among the activities was a seminar presented by the Master Teachers, and Dean of the Teacher’s College Dr. Joan Brewer called it the “highlight” of the day.
2022 Kansas Master Teacher Andy Battenfield, of Emporia, says he is focus was on the importance of building relationships with the students.
2020 Kansas Master Teacher Erica Huggard, of Emporia, says she was excited about the opportunity to engage with future teachers, and talk to them about the importance and challenges of navigating change.
The teachers were honored with a banquet and award ceremony at Webb Hall, Wednesday night. The list of honorees includes:
