One person was taken by ambulance from the scene of an injury accident north of Reading Thursday afternoon.
Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies, Emporia/Lyon County EMS and Miller first responders were all called to the 1900 block of US Highway 56, roughly 11 miles north of Reading, for a reported rollover shortly after noon. According to Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Williams, a Freightliner water truck driven by 46-year-old Kimberly Colon of Milford was traveling eastbound when the wind forced the vehicle off the roadway.
Colon overcorrected and caused the vehicle to enter the south ditch where it overturned before landing on its wheels. Colon was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected serious injuries.
She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
12:15 pm: Rollover accident reported north of Reading Thursday
Reading and Miller Fire and EMS and Emporia/Lyon County EMS are responding to a reported injury rollover accident that occurred early Thursday afternoon.
Crews were called to the 1900 block of US Highway 56, roughly 11 miles north of Reading, around 12:15 pm. Initial indications are that a water truck rolled in the vicinity with an unidentified 46-year-old female inside.
The occupant was reportedly still in the vehicle upon the arrival of EMS. Further details are currently pending.
