Several area counties and transportation departments are receiving federal funds for transit projects.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Transportation Secretary Julie Lorenz say nearly $900,000 is coming to the area as part of several activities:
*Lyon County Area Transportation, or LCAT, gets $12,000 to expand its security camera network
*Hetlinger Developmental Services gets almost $82,000 for a three-stall bus barn
*Coffey County Transportation gets over $25,000 for bus and facility improvements
*Morris County gets over $500,000 for a public transportation facility
*Osage County gets over $220,000 for new vehicles
*Wabaunsee County gets over $87,000 to expand its fleet and get new barriers
The funding — over $13 million in total — comes from the Access, Innovation and Collaboration Public Transit Program.
This comes as LCAT is installing new wraps on its buses and vans as part of a long-awaited project. Director Shane Brunner will be on KVOE’s Morning Show this upcoming Wednesday with an update.
