The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Fort Hays State Saturday.
Fort Hays State won the first game 7-6. Emporia State scored 3 runs in the 1st inning. Fort Hays responded with 4 runs in the 2nd inning and added single runs in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings. The Lady Hornets tried to rally with 3 runs in the 7th but it was not enough.
Emporia State bounced back to win the 2nd game 8-0. The Lady Hornets scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning to take a lead they would not give up. Maddy Broxterman was 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI. Emma Furnish was also 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Gracie Rabe was the winning pitcher shutting out Fort Hays on 6 hits.
The Emporia State softball team is now 20-20 for the season and 9-7 in MIAA play.
