Organizers of the Chase County Old School Development District’s first annual Bunny Run were pleased with Saturday’s event.
Close to 50 people took part in the event, which included a 1K run and Easter egg hunt for kids as well as a 5K for other ages.
For the past several years, the group has been working to save and enhance the complex in Cottonwood Falls by turning part of the property into affordable housing and having part of it as a community center. Spokesperson Lee Anne Coester says the community center side has taken off, with pickleball added to a variety of activities already taking place. The committee is now working on a Request for Proposal on the housing half of the project.
Proceeds from Saturday will help to replace some old carpeting and possibly purchase a lawn mower. Totals are currently pending. The next fundraiser for the Old School Development District is its annual car show April 30.
