The City of Emporia is set to begin its latest road improvement project this week.
According to City Clerk Kerry Sull, the city’s contractor will be closing a portion of 18th Ave. and County Road 180 between Americus Road and Road F5 to through traffic beginning Monday. The closure comes as the city is planning to construct a sanitary sewer line across the roadway.
The project should take a week to complete, weather permitting. Detours and signage will be in place throughout the project’s duration.
