The Emporia High baseball team swept a doubleheader from Topeka West Monday.
They won the first game 3-1.
Owen Ruge scored on an error in the 2nd inning.
Cam Geitz scored in the 3rd inning when Vance Kinsey reached on an error.
Hayden Knuth scored in the 6th when Aiden Ewing reached on an error.
Hunter Redeker was the winning pitcher giving up 1 run on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts. Quinn Dold pitched two shutout innings in relief.
Coach Anthony Markowitz called it a good win.
The Spartans rolled in the 2nd game 11-0.
They scored 2 runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings and blew the game open with a 7 run 4th inning.
Junior Aiden Skiles was 3 for 3 at the plate.
Owen Ruge was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI.
Vance Kinsey drove in a pair of runs.
Cam Geitz was 2 for 2 at the plate and scored 3 runs. He was also the winning pitcher, going 4 innings giving up 4 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Quinn Dold pitched a scoreless 5th inning in relief.
The Spartans are now 5 and 3 for the season. They will play at Manhattan on Friday.
