The Emporia High softball team swept a doubleheader from Topeka West Monday. The Lady Spartans won the first game 14-7.
Took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, would score 5 runs in the 4th, and added 3 runs in both the 6th and 7th innings.
Madison Cheek drove in 3 runs. Caitlyn Meyers was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored.
Shaylee Ginter was the winning pitcher.
Emporia High rallied to win the second game 6-4. Topeka West scored 2 runs in the first and was leading 4-3 after 5 innings. The Lady Spartans would score 3 runs in the 6th to earn the win.
Maddyn Stewart drove in 2 of the runs. Adrianna Hernandez was 2 for 3 at the place with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Gracie Gilpin was the winning pitcher.
With the sweep, the Lady Spartans are now 7 and 3 for the season. They are scheduled to host Manhattan on Friday.
