A two-vehicle crash near Emporia’s downtown core sent one person to Newman Regional Health on Wednesday.
The crash involved two cars and happened at Sixth and Constitution shortly after 6 pm. Police Officer JW Fournier says a northbound car on Constitution had the green light and was crossing Sixth when a westbound car collided with it. Fournier says the driver of the westbound car was apparently distracted and ran the red light just before the crash.
A passenger in the northbound car was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health with apparently minor injuries. Nobody else was apparently hurt. Names have not been released.
