There are a few “stragglers” left to redecorate, but for the most part a long-awaited rebranding effort for LCAT is done.
Director Shane Brunner had an update on KVOE’s Morning Show this week. Leopards, jaguars, tigers and lions are on full display, and Brunner says the early feedback has been positive — with one unintended reaction.
The project actually began with prior LCAT director Mike Halleran, who saw the need to give LCAT a new look — in part to remind residents about LCAT being general public transportation and in part to separate the agency from other local businesses or organizations that also used white backgrounds for their buses and vans. LCAT obtained grant funding for the new wraps in 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted the project.
Brunner says there was talk of going with cartoon cats early in the process, but that was redirected with concerns about potential lawsuits.
Brunner says there are still a few vehicles that have the longstanding design, but those will be replaced by buses ordered by LCAT last year.
