Emporia State University says the Jones Foundation is expanding its tuition voucher program for students from Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties.
Starting this upcoming fall, the Jones Foundation will offer scholarships for incoming students with increasing funding amounts, from $1,000 the first year to $2,500 the senior year — meaning a total of $7,000 could be available per student over four years. Students will need to maintain a grade point average of 2.25 or higher, be enrolled full-time, complete at least 12 credit hours per semester and complete several success plans.
The program was created in 2008. Students have been receiving $1,000 per year for four years as financial aid without the need for an application. Stipends have been automatic for the first year and then granted to students who complete credit-hour and GPA requirements. That process will not change for students currently receiving aid.
