Washburn slipped past the Emporia State baseball team for a 2-1 win Saturday.
The Hornets scored in the 5th inning when Blake Carroll scored on a Kadyn Williams sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead.
Washburn tied the game in the 7th and scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th.
Coach Seth Wheeler said they lost a well-played game.
The Hornets did have chances stranding 8 base runners.
Noah Geekie suffered the loss despite giving up the 2 runs on 3 hits with 10 strikeouts.
Emporia State has a game with Northwestern Oklahoma State on the schedule for Monday and Tuesday they are scheduled to host Rockhurst.
