Emporia city commissioners have a lengthy agenda for their action meeting Wednesday night.
Commissioners may well approve lease and operations agreements with the Humane Society of the Flint Hills for managing the Emporia Animal Shelter, and they could well approve public hearing dates for the Red Brick Investments’ travel plaza as planned for US Highway 50 just southwest of Graphic Arts. A public hearing date for the so-called Whittier Tract Rural Housing Incentive District could also be set, possibly leading to nearly 30 single-family homes in an area bordered by Riley Avenue on the north side, Trusler Road on the south, Whittier Street on the east and Peyton Street on the west.
Separately, commissioners could approve requests to exchange federal funds. Bids for the 2022 Hazardous Sidewalk and Street Rehab projects could also be approved and the commission will officially welcome Erren Harter to the board after he was appointed to fill the remainder of Rob Gilligan’s term earlier this month.
The meeting starts at 7 pm Wednesday at the Municipal Court Room.
