The Emporia State baseball team walked off with a 5-4 win in 10 innings over Northwestern Oklahoma State Monday.
Austin Hamms’ chopper over the head of the pitcher, with the bases loaded and 2 outs, scored pinch-runner Sawyer Slayden in the bottom of the 10th.
Northwestern scored 3 runs in the 1st inning. Emporia State would take the lead with 4 runs in the 4th inning. Austin Hamm drove in the first run and would score on a balk. Sam Chaput and Blake Carroll also drove in runs for the Hornets.
Northwestern would tie the game in the 8th inning.
Emporia State returns to the diamond Tuesday night hosting Rockhurst with the first pitch at 6 pm.
