Final preparations are underway as Flint Hills Technical College has its annual Gala Benefit event Friday night.
The 20th annual event sold out earlier this month even with an expanded capacity, and Foundation Director Mike Crouch says the live and silent auctions are going to be big. The silent auction is already up and open to the public.
Activities begin at 6 pm at White Auditorium, including dinner from the college’s Culinary Arts Department, open bar and live and silent auction. Videos from the Multimedia Design Department, programs from the Graphic Arts Department and a table from the Welding Department are also included. Residents can browse and bid on auction items online at www.fhtc.edu/foundation.
All proceeds benefit scholarships. Simmons Pet Food is this year’s presenting sponsor.
Meanwhile, the college’s focus isn’t just on the upcoming gala. President Caron Daugherty says a special enrollment day is coming April 27, but she says space is either tight or taken for a number of programs.
May 2, 19 and 25 are also set as special enrollment dates, with other dates coming in June and July.
Graduation plans are also finalizing. Spring commencement is set for May 15 at White Auditorium.
