There were no ambulance transports from a wreck just west of Emporia before sunrise Thursday, but one person wound up going by private vehicle to Newman Regional Health afterward.
Lyon County Deputy Jeff Rodriguez says 30-year-old Jessica Brauer went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after two vehicles collided the junction of US Highway 50 and Road E, two miles west of Emporia.
Rodriguez says Lyon County deputies and Emporia-Lyon County EMS responded shortly after 5:20 am. Brauer was driving a car westbound on Highway 50 when it collided with an SUV driven by 54-year-old Jeanette Myers, who was turning from Road E onto the highway.
Myers was not hurt. Unspecified citations were given to both drivers. Deputies are still investigating. Deputies have not said whether fog was a factor.
7:45 am Thursday: Early-morning wreck west of Emporia leads to no hospital transports
Emporia-Lyon County EMS did not transport anybody to medical facilities after a reported injury crash outside Emporia early Thursday.
Lyon County deputies and EMS responded to the junction of US Highway and Road E shortly before 5:30 pm after two vehicles crashed. EMS observed three patients on site, but all declined trips to hospitals afterward.
6:15 am Thursday: Reported injury crash west of Emporia under investigation
Lyon County deputies are on the scene of a reported injury crash just west of Emporia.
Deputies and Emporia-Lyon County EMS was called to the intersection of US Highway 50 and Road E, about two miles west of Emporia, shortly before 5:30 am. Early indications are two vehicles were involved with one patient being observed. There is currently no word on whether anybody has been transported to a hospital for medical care.
Details about how the wreck developed are currently being investigated. Lyon and several surrounding counties have been in a dense fog advisory during the overnight hours, with visibility a quarter-mile or less areawide.
