Road and railroad work is coming to parts of the KVOE listening area soon.
Starting next week, weather permitting, the city of Emporia says work will begin to have a street connection from the US West Highway 50 roundabout to the site of a nearly 40-acre travel plaza south of the highway. The project could last six months and there will be construction traffic control signage nearby.
Later, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad’s track between Gardner and Strong City will have a track resurfacing project. The project is set to begin Tuesday in Gardner and work southwest from there, including crossings in Osage, Coffey, Lyon and Chase counties.
There is currently no word on when the area crossings will see work, although RoadSafe Traffic Systems, the company handling this project, estimates up to two days of work per crossing.
