The Emporia Spartan Boxing Club went 2-1 at the Kansas City Golden Gloves competition Thursday night.
Mercedes Silvey won a decision in her bout and now improves to 2-0 as an amateur. 11-year-old Rosa Dominguez-Estrada also improved to 2-0 with a decision win.
12-year-old Ryker Gorton lost a close decision in his bout and now holds a record of 1-2. Spartan Boxing returns to action Saturday night as undefeated 18-year-old Junior Robles will compete in the finals of the national qualifying tournament.
Robles is 6-0. Saturday’s bouts will begin at 7 pm inside Memorial Hall.
