Emporia Spartan Boxer Junior Robles has punched his ticket, literally, to the National Golden Glove Tournament of Champions.
Robles earned a decision win in the 139 lbs finals bout of the Kansas City Golden Gloves tournament Saturday night and earned fight of the night honors. Robles now improves to 7-0 as an amateur and has qualified for the national tournament scheduled for August 13-20 in Tulsa, OK.
With his win, Robles gives Spartan Boxing a 3-1 record for the weekend after Rosa Dominguez-Estrada and Mercedes Silvey earned victories in single bouts Thursday both improving to 2-0. Ryker Gorton lost a close decision and now holds a record of 1-2.
