USD 243 Lebo-Waverly is coming to terms with the recent death of a student.
The district says a male student at Lebo High passed away. The student’s name has not been announced and further details are pending.
The district’s Crisis Response Team met Monday afternoon, and staff and students were told about the situation before the school day ended. Lebo’s school counselor and school psychologist talked with students either in their classrooms or individually.
A team of trained counselors will be at Lebo High on Tuesday. The district says both churches in Lebo are offering space in their buildings for students, staff and parents who need to talk.
Principal Duane Ford is also encouraging parents to talk with their children and let them express their feelings. Patrons with more questions or concerns can call Lebo High at 620-256-6341. Click here to read Ford’s letter to parents and patrons.
