An Emporia man originally accused of attempted murder has been sentenced to probation.
Ronald W. Schemm was charged after an incident in the 900 block of Waverly in August 2021, where he was accused of trying to kill a woman and threatening two men with a gun. The charge would be amended to a count of attempted involuntary manslaughter to which Schemm pled no contest in March.
Lyon County Chief Judge Merlin Wheeler would sentence Schemm to a three-year probation term Thursday in district court. There is a 32-month underlying prison term attached to this sentence meaning any probation violations will see Schemm serve more than two years in prison.
