After day one play concluded for the 2022 Dynamic Discs Open Thursday night, attention shifted to a special ceremony at the Emporia Country Club.
Players, fans and local residents all arrived at the clubhouse to witness the inaugural induction ceremony for the Kansas Flying Disc Association Hall of Fame. Among the inductees was a familiar local face, Eric McCabe.
The renowned course designer and player says he is proud to be among such an elite group of individuals.
McCabe says this ranks right near the top of his proudest achievements in his career which also includes winning the 2010 world championship. McCabe went on to say he still has a lengthy list of goals he is hoping to accomplish in the near future.
Along with McCabe, the inaugural class included Bill Paulson, Pete Cashen, Dennis Vahsholtz, Tavish Carduff, Hal Kurz and the KU HorrorZontals/Bettys.
Dynamic Disc Open activities will continue Friday with the Swedish bonfire from 7-10 pm at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. The Saturday schedule features the annual block party, including the Ring of Fire, Vendor Village and Food Truck Rally from 5-10 pm in the 800 and 900 blocks of Commercial.
