Royals president of baseball operations Dayton Moore announced on Thursday that Adalberto Mondesi has an ACL tear in his left knee and was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 27. The 26-year-old will go back to Kansas City and be evaluated there before determining the next steps and the timeline for his recovery.
Right-hander Brady Singer was optioned to Triple-A Omaha to get stretched out as a starter and could start there as early as Saturday. The 25-year-old has been pitching out of the bullpen to begin the season, but the Royals see him in their future rotation.
