The hospitality of Emporia during the 2022 Dynamic Discs Open has continued to make Dynamic Discs President and Assistant Tournament Director Doug Bjerkaas extremely proud.
Bjerkaas joined KVOE’s Morning Show Friday and says visitors new and old continue to compliment the city and local residents for how welcoming they have been throughout the week. Bjerkaas stated that during the player’s meeting Wednesday Director of the Pro Disc Golf Tour Jeff Spring made a point to refer to Emporia as Disc Golf Town USA.
Bjerkaas says titles such as this are made possible not only by the quality of tournaments hosted in town but also by the quality of residents who live here.
As play in the 2022 DDO begins to enter its final days, preparations are ongoing for the next large-scale event the 2022 Disc Golf World Championships which will be coming to town in late August. Bjerkaas says they are very excited for the opportunity to host the tournament and once again welcome some of the very best in the sport to town.
DDO activities continue Friday with the Swedish bonfire from 7-10 pm at the Lyon County Fairgrounds, weather permitting. The Saturday schedule features the annual block party, including the Ring of Fire, Vendor Village and Food Truck Rally from 5-10 pm in the 800 and 900 blocks of Commercial.
