USD 456 Marais des Cygnes Valley High School is in the state’s top 25, according to the US News and World Report’s “Best Kansas High School” list announced this week.
Marais des Cygnes is 21st, according to the study. Superintendent Joe Sample was understandably thrilled with that ranking, but he was also pleased with other rankings announced in the US News report.
Marais des Cygnes also had a graduation rate of 88 percent and has a student-teacher ratio of 8-to-1 as part of data released by US News. Sample says teachers at Marais des Cygnes “take great care” to give students individualized attention and to address all areas to give students the best possible chance of success after high school.
US News ranks high schools based on graduation rates, state assessment performances and their post-high school preparations.
