The Emporia High baseball team was swept by Washburn Rural in a doubleheader Friday
Rural outscored the Spartans 21-11 in the first game.
The Spartans scored 7 runs in the 1st inning. Rural would take the lead with an 8-run 3rd inning. The Spartans would tie the game at 11 before Rural scored 5 runs in the 5th inning to take the lead for good. Vance Kinsey was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI to lead Emporia High.
Rural won the 2nd game 8-1 in a game shortened to 5 innings due to weather.
Coach Anthony Markowitz said they gave away too many runs.
The Spartans will play Garden City and Andover next Friday and Saturday in the Spartan Classic.
The Emporia High softball doubleheader at Washburn Rural was postponed and rescheduled for May 12th.
The Lady Spartans will play Kapaun Mt Carmel Friday and Andover Central in the Spartan Classic.
