Pickleball players and community members are encouraged to attend a grand opening for the city’s new courts in north-central Emporia.
The courts are on property formerly owned by the Emporia Country Club at 1801 Rural, and the ceremony will be held at 1 pm May 15 — including a formal dedication; a skills-and-strategy conversation from Lucy Kovalova, the world’s No. 2-ranked woman in mixed doubles and a former member of the Wichita State tennis team; a pickleball exhibition and opportunities for residents to use the courts.
The facility is called Reeble Park to honor longtime local philanthropists Jane and Barney Reeble. Other local donors and residents who helped the project move forward will also be recognized.
