There was slightly higher COVID-19 traffic in Lyon County over the past week than we have seen for weeks.
On Wednesday, Lyon County Public Health announced 22 new cases since April 27. It’s almost as many cases as the 26 cases combined over the past three weeks.
No new deaths were reported, holding the total at 121. One death is awaiting final cause information from the state. Over the past 25-plus months, Lyon County has reported 10,192 cases or about a third of the county’s total population.
In separate COVID news, CareArc has announced a pair of vaccination clinics this week — one from 3-7 pm Friday at the Emporia Main Street office, 727 Commercial, and one from 11 am to 3 pm at Emporia’s Cinco de Mayo celebration. Second booster doses are available at both events. Appointments are preferred by going online to www.publichealth.lyoncounty.org but walk-ins are also welcome.
